Directed by Lulu Wang, the episode opens with a relatable scene where a group of domestic workers share lunchtime gossip. The Filipino veteran actress and the Oscar-winning Australian actress’ character, Essie, alongside Kidman’s Margaret, brings a fresh perspective to the screen, giving a voice to these often unsung heroes.

Meanwhile, the Filipino American community, led by the Filipinos Advancing Creative Education (FACE) organization, hosted a special screening of the 96-minute-episode, emphasizing the importance of diverse storytelling and representation in mainstream media.

“Our mission is simple: to amplify rich, diverse storytelling that resonates on a global scale,” the nonprofit shared on Instagram, expressing their commitment to championing narratives that resonate globally and honoring modern-day Filipino heroes like the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

“Now, more than ever, the importance of representation cannot be overstated,” they added.

The event drew notable guests, including director Lulu Wang and series leads Sarayu Blue and Ji-Young Choi, marking a celebration of Filipino talent and a call for continued diversity in storytelling.
