Darren Espanto drops Tagalog version of ‘Iyo’ with MV on Valentine’s Day
In episode 84 of the hit ABS-CBN and Netflix series “Can’t Buy Me Love,” viewers witnessed a moment during the Chinese New Year celebration when Stephen, portrayed by Filipino Canadian singer-actor Darren Espanto, stole the spotlight as he made a grand gesture to Caroline, played by Belle Mariano.
Amid the festive atmosphere, Stephen serenaded Caroline with a song in Chinese titled “Iyo,” expressing his heartfelt feelings for her.
Adding to the romantic atmosphere just in time for Valentine’s Day, the runner-up of “The Voice Kids Season 1,” released the Tagalog version of the said song.
Penned by the “Bibitaw Na” artist himself, the track, arranged by Tommy Katigbak, mixed and mastered by Dante Tañedo, and produced by Jonathan Manalo, encapsulates the essence of finding true love and feeling complete.
The song’s lyrics, accompanied by imagery of time standing still and hearts racing, amplifies more the emotional impact of the series’ narrative.
Moreover, fans eagerly anticipate the release of the music video on Feb. 14, featuring beloved characters Snoop and Irene, portrayed by Anthony Jennings and Snoop Manansala respectively, whose scenes have captivated audiences.
In a social media post, Star Music teased, “Snoop, Irene, and Stephen: Alternate Universe???” while the Fil-Canadian performer also wrote on Instagram, “Sino kasama mo nang 02.14.2024 (6PM)? Samahan niyo kami nina…” hinting at potential developments in the characters’ relationships, not in the series but in the music video.
