Darren Espanto drops new anthem ‘for those who have healed’
In his comeback single, Filipino-Canadian singer Darren Espanto says it’s time to let go.
Celebrating his ninth year in the industry, “The Voice Kids Season 1” runner-up has just released his latest track titled “Bibitaw Na,” which was first performed on the “ASAP Natin ‘To Milan” stage on Sept 10.
“This is an anthem for those who have healed from past relationships in a toxic environment,” says the 21-year-old performer, who actually wrote the song. “It’s about moving forward and experiencing a sense of release from all the negativity they endured in the past.”
Dubbed “Asia’s Pop Heartthrob,” Espanto reveals that “Bibitaw Na” was inspired by various heartbreak stories from his close friends. This release, produced by ABS-CBN creative director Jonathan Manalo, also marks his debut under Star Music.
As the household name he is today, he gained fame as the runner-up to Lyca Gairanod during the inaugural season of “The Voice Kids Philippines.” He has launched two studio albums, namely “Darren” and “Be With Me,” both of which achieved platinum album status and has delivered singing and dancing performances as a mainstay on “ASAP Natin ‘To.”

Recently, he has taken on roles as a mentor and judge in talent searches such as “Dream Maker” where he was one of the mentors responsible for selecting the all-Filipino global pop group HORI7ON and as a hurado (judge) for “Tawag ng Tanghalan.”
Moreover, Calgary-born Espanto has also showcased his acting chops in the blockbuster movie “The How’s of Us” alongside Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla and iWant series “Lyric and Beat” with Andrea Brillantes and Seth Fedelin. He is also soon to star in his first Primetime series, “Can’t Buy Me Love,” alongside Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano this October.
The official lyric video of “Bibitaw Na” is available on YouTube and the song can be streamed on various digital streaming platforms.
