Lucky plants to help you through the Lunar New Year
Lunar New Year is afoot, so it’s another opportunity to start fresh. Plants are a great addition to any home, but there are some plants (at least according to Feng Shui) that’ll do more than just clean the air and sit pretty.
According to superstition, these plants are said to bring good luck in different aspects of life to those who own it. Whether it’s the state of your bank account you’re trying to change or maybe even the state of your love life—give these lucky plants a try. At best, your fortune will change. At worst, the air in your home will at least be cleaner.
Money plant (crassula ovata)
The most classic lucky plant is the money plant. It’s famous for being a money magnet, which probably stems from its characteristic coin-shaped oval leaves. It’s also a succulent, so it doesn’t need much care and attention to thrive.
Aloe vera
Bar being lucky, having an aloe vera plant is a great investment. It’s a quick fix for burns and small scratches, and is also notoriously easy to take care of. In feng shui, the plant is good for warding off negative energy and bad luck. The pointy leaves also symbolize protection and are said to add vibrant energy to the home it belongs to.
Peace lily
If your life’s looking a little messy and you need a breath of fresh air, look no further than the peace lily. It’s said that the peace lily brings peace (of course) and harmony to those who possess it. Aside from calming your turmoil, it’s also a very pretty plant that’s scientifically proven to help clean air.
Star jasmine
Some people just need a push in the right direction to find love. If all the shoves don’t work, it’s probably time to invest in a star jasmine plant. It’s a plant that is said to build romantic relationships if you’re single, and strengthen them if you’re taken. If all the star jasmines in your area are suddenly sold out, you’ll understand why.
Lucky bamboo (dracaena sanderiana)
Lucky bamboo both looks like and is called bamboo, but it doesn’t actually belong to the real bamboo family. Where it does belong is in your home—especially when you’re hoping for some prosperity, good fortune, and happiness. And if you’re indoors and don’t get much natural light, that’s okay. It doesn’t need a lot of sunlight to keep going.
