Fil-Am ‘Spider-Man’ actor Jacob Batalon is starring in a horror film
Just when we thought Ned Leeds already went through so much in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it looks like the series of misadventures aren’t ending anytime soon—well, at least for the actor himself.
Originally known to have played Peter Parker’s ride-or-die in the “Spider-Man” series, Filipino-American star Jacob Batalon is set to enter another topsy-turvy realm. In his latest Instagram post, the 27-year-old artist from Hawaii announced that he’s part of “Tarot,” an upcoming supernatural horror flick from Sony Pictures Entertainment.
“Who wants to do a #Tarot reading,” he captioned, adding a stream of spooky emojis. After mentioning Sony and production company Screen Gems, the actor teasingly added, “We got a hit with this one.”

In the trailer, the viewer gets transported to a tarot card reading session. In a dark, seemingly forbidden-to-enter room with only candles as light source, a group of curious teenage friends huddle together and watch the scene unfold. Strange voices even embrace the place.
“It’s an unspoken rule not to use somebody else’s cards,” one of the friends says. Someone else quips, “Who cares?”
Eventually, the session ends up becoming a terrifying experience they have to escape from. The cursed cards individually haunt their group, changing the course of their fate.
Apart from Batalon, Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, Larsen Thompson, and Avantika from “Mean Girls” (2024) lead the film’s pack. Directed and written by Spenser Cohen, “Tarot” is slated for a big screen release on May 10.
Fun fact: The movie is based on the 1992 novel “Horrorscope” by Nicholas Adams, so you can also have a brief preparation before hitting the cinemas.
