‘Walking Dead Star’ Steven Yeun Joins Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’ Movie
Steven Yeun will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a key role in the upcoming film “Thunderbolts,” according to Deadline.
In response, people speculated about Yeun’s potential role. One popular suggestion was he should play the main antagonist Robert Reynolds, a.k.a. Sentry.
The Thunderbolts movie will be the last film in the MCU’s Phase Five. According to canon lore, this superpowered team seems akin to DC Comic’s Suicide Squad.

The comic book lore says the Thunderbolts are part of the team of reformed supervillains that replaced The Avengers. Here are the actors and their respective roles:
- Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova
- Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine
- Wyatt Russel as John Walker/US Agent
- Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost
- Olga Kurylenko as Taskmaster
- David Harbour as Red Guardian
- Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier
You might remember David Harbour as one of the cast members of the Stranger Things Netflix series.
Also, Sebastian Stan is featured in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” as the latter. Aside from Steven Yeun, Ayo Edebiri from the comedy-drama “The Bear” will play an undisclosed role.
The comic book stories say the Thunderbolts team is a group of reformed supervillains that execute government missions.
If that sounds familiar, it is similar to the plot of the 2016 DC Comics film “Suicide Squad,” starring Margot Robie and Will Smith.
Marvel confirmed that it would release the film on July 26, 2024. Jack Schreier will direct the Thunderbolts film, and Eric Pearson is writing the script.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is the producer, and he commented on the Thunderbolts.
“It tells you a lot about the team when beloved Winter Soldier is the most stable among them,” he said.
Many people have been suggesting that Yeun should play the main antagonist Sentry.
Fans believe Steven Yeun would fit the role, but he hasn’t confirmed any details about his involvement in the Thunderbolts movie.
Yeun has been busy ever since his Walking Dead role. He will appear in other shows such as Netflix’s upcoming show “Beef” and Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi flick “Mickey 17.”
