LOS ANGELES – Filipino American Andrei “Nico” Gianan was shot dead in Manhattan Beach on New Year’s Day and his family appeals for help identifying his killer.

Andrei Gianan, 24, was working his shift at Wingstop in San Pedro on New Year’s Eve before making his way to Manhattan Beach to attend a party. Around 1 a.m. on Jan. 1, he was shot in the head by an unidentified assailant at the intersection of 11th and Peck Ave. in Manhattan Beach.

“This was a total, senseless act of violence and he was just at the wrong place at the wrong time,” the victim’s sister, Nina Gianan, wrote on a GoFundMe page that she created to support her brother’s funeral expenses.

“The pain that this has left us is unimaginable.”

Nina remembered her brother for his ”infectious smile, his goofy personality and his big heart.”

“Deep in his thoughts, carefree in expressing ideas, likes and dislikes and has an easygoing personality that everyone loves,” she wrote. “He could make the whole room laugh and was a joy to be with.”

“He leaves behind countless family members and friends who dearly miss him,” she added.

The family chose to honor his life by donating his organs in support of others.

Gianan’s family and the LA County Sheriff Department’s Homicide Bureau, which is investigating the case, are asking the public to provide any information on the attack.
