The trends for 2024 highlight a surge in international travel, with Japan leading the way, presenting Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto as top choices for the next year.

Paris, with its enchanting allure amplified by the upcoming 2024 Olympics, also experiences a spike in numbers, witnessing over a sevenfold increase in searches for the period of Jul. 26 to Aug. 11, 2024. 

Across the Atlantic, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil emerges as a top destination, drawing attention for its Carnival, contributing to a notable 136 percent increase in searches for the festival.

Meanwhile, Melbourne, Australia, also earns a spot on the global list to travel for its “diverse offerings in coffee culture, food, art, theater, and sport.”

As we transition from a lively social calendar to a focus on rest and rejuvenation for the upcoming 2024 holidays, Airbnb’s data also unveils the top booked categories globally. 

These include “national parks,” “amazing pools,” “beaches,” “amazing views,” and “iconic cities,” shaping travel trends from Jan. 1 to Sept. 30, 2023, and setting the tone for the entire year ahead.
