Filipino American stand-up comedian Jo Koy may be in the limelight of the comedy scene but behind him is his treasure and his everything, Jo Koy’s only son Joseph Herbert Jr.

Behind his witty and hilarious banters onstage and the recent success of Adam Sandler’s “Leo” which he is a part of, this comedian is a real dad at heart. “I love being a dad,” shared Jo Koy last Father’s Day of 2023.

From being his dad’s source of jokes, Joseph is now a part of his dad’s crew that’s been on the road for Jo Koy’s 2023 world tour.

Jo Koy’s son loves the Philippines same as him

A soft spot for his homeland the Philippines? Check. In a TikTok video during their father and son vacation in the Philippines, he expressed, “I don’t want to leave. I love it here.” What he loves the most? “The people,” said Joseph.

He grew up in Los Angeles

Born at Cedars-Sinai Hospital to parents Jo Koy (real name: Joseph Glenn Herbert) and Filipino American singer Angie King on April 21, 2003, he was lucky to have both loving parents. He attended a private school in LA.

Though his parents were divorced, they still live close to each other with residences just one block down from each other.

Inheriting his dad’s creative side

Like father, like son — Joseph didn’t just get his dad’s looks but also his comedy chops. Jo Koy confirmed in a show while dropping a joke, “he’s really funny.”

“I know he’s got a creative mind and he’s got a sense for fashion and comedy, and I know that’s the avenue and lane he’s going to take after school,” said Jo Koy.

Jo Koy’s son is there during his ups and downs

Being Jo Koy’s son isn’t just about stepping into the limelight and rolling in laughter, he also stood behind his dad during the tough times.

When Netflix rejected his dad pushing for more Filipino representations in Hollywood, “My son was there when Netflix said no; I shot (Jo Koy: Live from Seattle), I had to pay for it. He knows what his dad went through, so he knows it was more than just about me.”
