You’re in for a Christmas treat as L.A. Metro offers free rides this holiday season
Last-minute holiday shopping, traffic and long lines at the supermarkets? Nevertheless, we’re still loving the crisp chilly air and the holiday vibes. And to save you some fuel this coming holidays, L.A. Metro has a gift for you: free rides.
With the slew of holiday events around Los Angeles, Christmas and New Year’s Eve are undeniably the busiest this holiday season and here’s where L.A. Metro comes to your rescue.
Ditch the traffic and parking costs as the transportation agency is ready to give commuters free bus and train rides from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Christmas and New Year’s Eve.
Use “Merry23” on Christmas Eve and “Ring24” on New Year’s Eve to avail of the free ride. If you want to burn some calories off before digging into the holiday feast, bikes offer free 30-minute rental through the Bike Share program. Just use the code “010124” for free bike rides.

“Fare gates will be unlatched and fare boxes and validators will not deduct a fare from any TAP cards,” said Metro officials via KTLA 5.
If you’re not accessible to Metro train and bus rides, you can always check out their Metro Micro program as long as you’re near their service area.
This move wasn’t surprising following the city’s reaffirmation of commitment to offer free rides to students last October. With the GoPass program, K-12 students can ride any metro line or bus for free.
