Think of one fast food chain that Filipinos have probably frequented throughout their childhood and continue to visit regularly? That’s right. Happiness takes the lead as the famous Filipino fried chicken is coming to Dallas, Texas.

Residents are in for a treat as Jollibee, the Philippines’ largest fast food chain with more than 1,400 stores globally, is set to fry Chickenjoy at 4703 Greenville Ave. on Nov. 29, finding its home in a former Jack in the Box location.

According to a statement from Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) earlier this year, the global fast food conglomerate is gearing up for its most extensive store expansion initiative in 2023, building on the success of record openings last year that propelled earnings beyond pre-pandemic levels. JFC has announced plans to open between 550 and 600 new branches this year to maintain its growth trajectory.

In 2022, the company achieved a milestone by launching 542 stores, marking the highest number in its 45-year history.

Operating daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., the Dallas Jollibee branch, just like any other branches worldwide, offers dine-in, takeout, and convenient online ordering options.

For those unfamiliar with the brand, its signature dish, the Chickenjoy, takes a homey approach, served with steamed rice and a side of distinct Jollibee gravy. Customers can opt for a complete meal with choices like mashed potatoes or corn, or go for the iconic red-bucket experience or bucket.

While Jollibee is also known for its chicken and Filipino-style spaghetti, they also emphasize their other top menu items such as crispy chicken sandwich (also comes in spicy) and peach mango pie.

However, there are no breakfast items listed on their website, but past offerings included dishes featuring eggs with steamed rice and various meat options like sausage or corned beef.

As Jollibee’s unmistakable red and yellow signage with its “smiling bee” icon welcomes and graces the Dallas skyline, locals can anticipate a blend of Filipino flavors and Texan hospitality for a “bida ang saya” dining experience.
