Fil-Am Dave Valeriano shines as 3rd runner-up in Mr. Gay America in Las Vegas

Dave Valeriano, a 38-year-old Filipino-American, has made history by winning the third runner-up position in the prestigious Mr. Gay America competition which was held on Oct. 4 to 5 at the Aliante Casino Hotel Spa in North Las Vegas. The competition marked its 40th anniversary, making Valeriano’s achievement all the more significant.

On Oct. 13, Valeriano shared his joy and gratitude for his achievements on an Instagram post: “Last week, I competed at Mr. Gay America in Las Vegas and placed 3rd Runner Up on my first try. It was one of my happiest moment. I gained more than a placement. I gained a new family. I know that this is the system for me and I will be back stronger.”

In a triumphant year, Valeriano not only secured the title as 3rd runner up for Mr. Gay America, but was also crowned as Mr. Washington D.C., and Mr. Gay America – Washington D.C. These victories showcase his determination and dedication to his dreams.

Throughout the pageant, Valeriano ensured that his Filipino roots were prominently displayed. His attire, including clothing and costumes, was meticulously designed by Filipino fashion designer Carl Andrada. Valeriano paid homage to his Filipino culture by wearing a costume inspired by the mythical creature “Ibong Adarna,” a symbol from Filipino folklore.

In addition to his pageantry success, Valeriano is an accomplished singer, theater actor, host, and fashion model. His modeling career made its debut at the New York Fashion Week 2023. Moreover, he is a seven-time gold, silver, and bronze medalist at the World Championship of Performing Arts (WCOPA) and has participated in the Manhattan International music competition.

Valeriano’s music journey includes the release of his debut solo album in 2010, titled “Keep It Moving.” His music was even featured in an episode of CBS’s series “The Seal Team.” Valeriano’s recent Filipino-language single achieved over 100,000 streams and reached the Top 50 Viral Philippines on Spotify.

Valeriano’s journey is an embodiment of courage, tenacity, and cultural pride. His accomplishments stand as a testament to the strength of diversity and inclusion in the world of pageantry and beyond.
