There is no limit to what empowered women can achieve, and Filipino-Canadian Denise Koh is here to prove what it takes to be named as one of the “Most Influential Filipina Woman in the World.”
She is set to be awarded the title during the Foundation for Filipina Women’s Network gala dinner in Prague, Czech Republic at the end of the month.
Referring to herself as a fighter, Koh is a lot of things in one. She is an assistant professor at the University of Manitoba as well as Manitoba’s chief medical officer and medical officer of health during the height of COVID-19, which earned her a spot in Canada’s “Top 100 Most Powerful Women” last year.
In Koh’s words, “I’d describe myself as a fighter. I fight for the things I’m passionate about, a lot of this coming from my personal experiences as a Filipina/person of color, woman, student/resident, physician, worker, whistleblower, and mom.”

The Foundation for Filipina Women’s Network has been recognizing Filipino women’s impact on a global scale since 2001 with this prestigious award. Koh was listed under the Innovator and Thought-Leader Category. From 10 countries, she stood out by reshaping leadership in a foreign landscape.
“I’m incredibly honored to be nominated for this award and thrilled that my work is being recognized,” says Koh in an interview.
“I’m so excited to connect with these dynamic women and collaborate on making an even bigger impact. Thank you FWN for bringing us together to uplift and support each other, our community, and the next generation of Pinay leaders.”
