Fan of the Deep Fried Universe (DFU) which started with the “Lumpia” Filipino-American comic book and movie series? October brings the DFU’s four-part “Pan de Crisis” crossover saga to a grand end with the befittingly titled, “Giant Size Lumpia #1.”

The fourth installment of “Pan de Crisis,” which debuted at the New York Comic Con (NYCC) earlier this month, follows the Lumpia squad as they pursue an unlikely team-up to save Fogtown and to take down Kid Crisis once and for all.

And Kid Heroes Productions, the production company behind the DFU, has even dropped three variant covers for the finale: the regular edition cover by Gerald Pilare, the NYCC 2023 exclusive variant by Benjamin DeGuzman, and holofoil edition cover by Dante Fernandez.

Each edition comes as a 40-page full color comic book, a sweeping spread that showcases both familiar characters and new faces. Among the new players in the field is Emoji Mang, the character showcased in Fernandez’s tribute cover to the Marvel Super Heroes comic “Secret Wars #8.”

“Giant Size Lumpia #1” is the ninth addition to the DFU. Its debut came a few days after the digital release of the “Lumpia With A Vengeance” movie featuring Danny Trejo and a roster of Filipino-American talents such as UFC champion Mark Muñoz.

Prior to the film’s digital release, fans also got to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original homemade “Lumpia” movie and the growing success of the franchise with the team’s full slate at the San Diego Comic Con last September.

We’re excited to find out what else is in store for “Lumpia” lovers.
