On Wednesdays, we head to Artesia, CA for a Filipino buffet
It’s almost innate for Filipinos to crave the authentic taste of home, no matter where they are in the world. Filipino food holds a special place in our hearts, comforting us in times of sadness, sickness, and even in moments of happiness.
In Los Angeles County, there’s a place that offers authentic Filipino-Kapampangan cuisine. Mekeni Pinoy’s Pride in Artesia promises to deliver quality Filipino comfort while noshing on great eats and refreshments that hit home.
But it’s on Wednesday nights when the excitement levels up owing to a delightful dinner buffet that could easily attract hundreds of customers.
“We just settled into the neighborhood, but it’s like we’ve been here forever because of the love and support you keep showering us [with]!” These are the exact words posted on their official website when they opened in November 2022, highlighting the warm welcome that customers extended to their business. “That’s why we vow to always serve up goodness.”

“Mekeni” from the business’ name, translates to a Kapampangan word that means “come over,” a perfect slogan for the homey vibe the restaurant provides their customers. Officially started and headed by Felina and Moises Simbulan, Mekeni Pinoy’s Pride offers Filipino specialties such as lechon roll, original oxtail kare-kare, chicken inasal, creamy lengua, and relyenong bangus.
“I’m passionate about my food and my heritage,” says Pampanga native Simbulan in an interview with Eater. “And I wanted to create a place where homesick Filipinos and curious food enthusiasts could come together for a flavorful meal.”
What’s so special about Wednesdays at Mekeni Pinoy’s Pride?
Before offering their special dining option on Wednesdays, Mekeni Pinoy’s Pride is known for its famous “weekend breakfast,” featuring beloved Filipino silog classics that we all love to feast on every morning.
Strategically placed in the middle of the week to give the kitchen ample time to prepare for weekend breakfast, the Wednesday dinner buffet features a variety of Filipino dishes that are dubbed “Filipino favorites” during gatherings like birthdays, reunions, and annual fiestas.
