Lost Scripture Found: UV Light Reveals Hidden Bible Chapters After 1,500 Years
In an unbelievable discovery, scientists have uncovered lost chapters of the Bible, written over 1,500 years ago.
The scientists found the hidden scripture by using ultraviolet light to document old Christian hymns and stories. The Vatican Library held these manuscripts.
The manuscript features chapters 11 and 12 from the book of Matthew. It provided more details than the standard Bible. The original text was written around the third century, but a scribe in Palestine deleted it.
Deletion was a common practice in ancient times because writing was made on animal skin whose scarcity meant manuscripts had to be used more than once.

First, it was used for the Apopthegmata in Greek, then for the Ladgari copy of Mikael Modrekili, a 10th-century Georgian manuscript of hymn collections.
“Peshitta,” an Old Syriac translation of the manuscripts, was written at least 100 years before the oldest Greek manuscripts that have remained. This includes the Codex Sinaiticus, the fourth-century Christian manuscript of the Greek Bible.
Significance of the newly discovered Bible chapter
The newly-discovered Bible chapters offer more details than the standard Gospel. However, they are in Syriac, which is completely different from the Greek version of the book of Matthew.

The researchers have not yet disclosed a full translation of ancient Syriac although they shared some information.
This amazing discovery proves how basic research and modern digital technologies work together to reveal hidden treasures from the old era.
This discovery follows the auction announcement in May for one of the ancient surviving biblical documents. It is an almost 1,100-year-old Hebrew Bible.
The Codex Sassoon was estimated to reach $30-$50 million. It might become the most valuable and expensive document to be sold in an auction. It is remarkable that these ancient scripts continue to amaze and captivate people a hundred years later.
