Bible Verses About Worry to Help Overcome Anxiety

/ 09:28 AM November 14, 2022

Anxiety is known as a restless, body-numbing fear of hypothetical loss. The Bible refers to it as an issue of loving the things of this world, including our self-image, more than we ought, desiring control of our circumstances, and failing to seek God’s kingdom and his righteousness. Even basking in our worries, some powerful bible verses can help us get through thinking too much.

It is normal to feel fearful or unsettled when we are not aware of what the future holds, but when we are full of anxiety, it does not look great on us as it can overwhelm us and keep us paralyzed. You should calm those fears and look unto God by trusting and relying on him.

Understand that worry, fear, and anxiety are all weapons Satan uses to keep us from experiencing the full life God has prepared for us. To defeat Satan and experience God, have faith and cast all your cares upon him. Below are God’s words that will help you overcome anxiety.

Philippians 4:6-7

Bible Verses About Worry to Help Overcome Anxiety

“Don’t fret or worry about anything. Instead, be saturated in prayer daily, offering your faith-filled requests before God with thanksgiving. Tell him everything concerning your life, and the wonderful peace of God that surpasses human understanding will keep your minds and hearts through Jesus Christ.”

Psalm 34:17

“Yes, the lord hears the righteous man when he calls him for help and saves him from all his troubles.”

Psalm 23:4

“Yes, though I through the valley of deepest darkness, I will not be conquered by fear, for I know You are with me and remain close to me, and you will lead me through the way. Your rod will protect me, and your staff will guide me. I feel secure because your love takes away my fear and because you are near, I’ll never be lonely, for you are near.”

Isaiah 41:10

“Do not fear; there is nothing to be afraid of, for I am with you. There’s no need to look around you in terror, for I am your God. I’ll give you strength, and I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady and firmly grip you with my right hand.”

Joshua 1:9

“Haven’t I commanded? Be strong and be of good courage. Don’t be timid or fearful; don’t get discouraged. The Lord, your God, is with you every step you take.”

Psalm 56:3

“But in the day or anytime I’m afraid, I lay all my fears before you, having confidence, and put my trust in you with all my heart.”

Jeremiah 29: 11-12

“For I know the plans and thoughts I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans and thoughts for peace and welfare and not for evil, to render you hope in your outcome and a future.”

Psalm 94:19

“Whenever the busy thoughts within me make me anxious, the soothing comfort of your presence calmed me down and cheered me up, gave me renewed hope, and overwhelmed me with delight.”

Luke 12:25

Luke 12:25

“Has anyone of you, by being overly anxious and worried, added anything to his life? Can it add one more day or even an hour?”

Psalm 55:22

“So through it all, here is what I’ve learned: Cast your troubles and your burdens with the Lord, and he will defend and sustain you; he never let the righteous people be defeated.”

Matthew 6:25-34

“This is why I tell you to stop being anxious and fearful about your life, for everything you need, such as food, water, clothing, everything your body needs, will be provided. Isn’t there more quality to your life than a meal? Isn’t your body far above and more excellent than clothing? Look at all the birds of the air; do you think they have any worry about their existence?”

“They don’t need to plant, reap, or store up food because your heavenly Father provides them with food. Aren’t you far more valuable to your Father than they? So, who of you, by being anxious, could add anything to your life?”

“And why would you worry about what cloth to wear? Look at all the beautiful lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their cloth, yet not even Solomon was arrayed or dressed as they are in all his magnificent splendor and glory! So, if God has clothed the grass of the field, which is here for such a short period, and then dried up and burned, won’t he surely provide for you the clothes you need, even though you have so little faith?”

“So then, forget your worries! Stop saying, “What will we eat?” or “What will we wear?” or “What will we drink?” For that is what the unbelievers chase and diligently seek after, and your heavenly Father already knows you need all these things?”

“So, above all, constantly aim and strive after the realm of God’s kingdom and his righteousness. Then you would be given all of these less important things. Refuse to worry about tomorrow, and God will deal with every challenge your way when the time comes. Tomorrow will take care of itself.”

Proverbs 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, and do not trust on your own opinions and understanding. With all of your heart, rely on him to guide you; he will lead and direct you in every decision you make.

“Don’t think for a moment that you know it all. Become intimate and fear God in whatever you do. He will always lead you wherever you go.”

Jeremiah 17:7-8

“Blessed is the man who believes in, relies on, and trusts in the Lord, and whose confidence and hope the Lord is.”

“He will be like a tree replanted by the waters that spread out its root near the river, and it shall not worry when heat comes, but its leaf shall not drop for it shall be green. It shall be calm and serene in the year of drought and shall not cease yielding fruit.”

Luke 12:22

“Jesus taught his disciples, saying, “Listen to me. Never let anxiety enter your heart. Never worry about your needs, such as food or clothing.”

John 14:1

John 14:1

“Don’t worry or surrender to your fear. For you’ve believed in God, trust and believe in me.”

Isaiah 35:4

“Say to those who have a hasty and fearful heart, God is right here with a vengeance, so be strong, and do not fear! With the recompense of God, he will come and save you.”

Proverb 12:25

“Anxiety in a man’s heart is very heavy, but a word of encouragement does wonders.”

1 Corinthians 7:32

“In all you do, I desire to have you free from worry. An unmarried man is anxious about spending his time doing the Lord’s work and thinking how to please him.”

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me, all of you tired of being burdened with heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Wear my yoke, for it fits perfectly, and let me teach you. I am meek and humble, and you will find relief and ease for your souls, for my burden is light and easy to carry.”
