District Attorney Alvin Bragg of Manhattan has been doing the investigations for the former president and his link to the hush-money scheme. He was allegedly covering up the payment which traces back to the 2016 presidential run.

Although the court proceedings are under secrecy, a source told CNN that a witness appeared and testified for 30 minutes. The testimony became the basis of Trump’s indictment.

He continued, So our Movement, and our Party – united and strong – will first defeat Alvin Bragg, and then we will defeat Joe Biden, and we are going to throw every last one of these Crooked Democrats out of office so we can MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

According to a person who directly communicated with Trump, the former president was already bracing himself for the indictment since last week. Trump was just caught off guard with the recent turn of events.

He was expecting it to happen a few weeks more as he believed the n news reports about his probable indictment. The person said, “Is this a shock today? Hell yes.”

Furthermore, Atty. Bragg said on Thursday that they are already in touch with Trump’s team. “This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal.”

This legal move against Trump shakes his 2024 presidential run. But he already vowed to run despite the criminal charges he’s facing.

In addition, the former president has named the series of investigations, a “witch hunt.” He meant that these are attempts to alter the public’s opinion on them by positioning himself as a victim of what he claims as political tactics by Democratic judges.

Republicans’ Moves against the Trump Indictment

As the indictment nears, Trump asked his supporters to protest against his arrest. It mirrors his action after the 2020 election when he tried to alter the results against the winner President Joe Biden.

Not only does the former president has long been halting his probable legal political consequences but also his professional and personal legal battles. Through the years, he was able to settle civil lawsuits for his company, the Trump Organization.

In addition, the Democrats have also tried to impeach him but he avoided the Senate’s conviction. In December, the jury had also convicted Trump Organization of several charges of tax fraud. However, it wasn’t the former president himself who faced the charges.

The 2024 GOP contenders and Trump’s allies have scrutinized the Manhattan district’s office for the impending indictment. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy will probe into the legal matter.

Furthermore, the Congressional Republicans was quick to defend Trump. They are condemning Bragg on Twitter and accusing him of a political “witch hunt.”

Texas Republican, Sen. Ted Cruz said that the indictment was “completely unprecedented.” He said it is “a catastrophic escalation in the weaponization of the justice system.”

House Judiciary Chairman of Ohio, Jim Jordan tweeted, “Outrageous.” He was one of the Republicans who demanded Atty. Bragg to testify in Congress regarding the Trump probe.

The decision of indictment will surely place the country in shock as it will affect the US political system. Americans have never seen it happening before. One of its ex-president under confrontation of criminal charges. Add to this that the former president is running again.

Furthermore, NYPD officials were in full force at the Manhattan courthouse after the indictment news broke out Thursday evening. They have orders to be in full uniform and ready for deployment On Friday.
