Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey Joins Netflix for New Series

Lena Headey, best known for her iconic role as the villainous Cersei Lannister in the hit HBO series Game of Thrones, is set to grace our screens once again.

But this time, she’s switching houses and joining the Netflix family for a new series. Fans of the actress and the streaming giant eagerly anticipate what’s in store for this exciting new project.

Lena Headey, who played the role of the cunning and ambitious Cersei Lannister, was one of the show’s standout performers.

Since the show’s conclusion in 2019, Headey has been busy with several other projects. Her latest venture is a Netflix series titled “The Abandons.”

The New Series

In October, the platform revealed a synopsis of the series. “As a group of diverse, outlier families pursues their Manifest Destiny in 1850s Oregon, a corrupt force of wealth and power, coveting their land, tries to force them out.”

“These abandoned souls, the kind of lost souls living on the fringe of society, unite their tribes to form a family and fight back. In this bloody process, ‘justice’ is stretched beyond the boundaries of the law.”

Netflix went on Twitter to announce the exciting addition of the star to the Netflix series, “Thrilled to announce that Lena Headey is coming to Netflix!”

The tweet added, “She will play Fiona, a devout matriarch in The Abandons, a new series from Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter.”

“It’s a pulse-pounding action drama exploring the fine line between survival and law in 1850s Oregon.”

Lena Headey’s Role

As revealed by Variety, Lena will be playing the role of Fiona, “a strong, devout matriarch who, unable to have her own children, but takes in four orphans to create her own family. Driven by a higher purpose and strong Irish temper, her faith and love for her family trump all.” 

Cast and Crew

Netflix is yet to announce any other cast to feature in the series. However, the 10-episode series will have Kurt Sutter as the showrunner; he also happens to be the show’s creator.

In addition, Emmy Grinwis will executive produce, Otto Bathurst will direct the first episode, and Stephen Surjik will direct the rest.

As the news of Lena Headey’s upcoming role in Netflix’s new series “The Abandons” continues to make waves, fans of the actress and the streaming giant are hanging with bated breath for what’s to come.
