Grimes Reveals New Name for Daughter with Elon Musk
Grimes revealed she had renamed her daughter from Exa Dark Sideræl to just a letter. The Canadian artist, Claire Boucher, shares two kids with Elon Musk — the Twitter and Tesla CEO.
Their first child, a son X Æ A-Xii, was born in May 2020, while the daughter Exa Sideræl Musk arrived via surrogate in December 2021.
News of their second child accidentally got revealed last year in a cover interview by Vanity Fair. The interviewer heard a crying baby talking to Grimes about her “space opera”-themed album, ‘Book 1’.
The singer recently posted a rare photo of her and her daughter on Instagram. They both wore red matching onesies and styled with yellow/green hairY [dragon emoji] C; she captioned the picture.
In a follow-up tweet, Grimes said:” Normally, we post her for her privacy, but she’s barely unrecognizable here since she is channeling Goku or something.”

Grime’s Daughter’s New Name
The singer explained in reply to her fan account her daughter is now named ‘Y,’ pronounced ‘Why.’
“She’s now Y, or ‘Why?’ or just ‘?’ (the government won’t recognize that),” Grimes wrote, “curiosity, the eternal question,… and such.”

The first time Grimes spoke about her daughter during a Vanity Fair interview, she said: “Whatever happens with family stuff, I think kids need to stay out of it, and X is just out there. I mean, I believe E [Musk] sees him as a protégé and puts him in everything and stuff. His situation is like that, but I don’t know.”
Grimes and Musk had changed their son’s name to comply with California law. They announced they wanted to name him X Æ A-12 (pronounced’ Ex Ash A Twelve’) but changed the spelling to X Æ A-Xii, switching in the Roman numerals of ’12.’
The outlet reported that the couple wanted more children, but Grimes feared severe complications, and she had “scary” health issues throughout the first pregnancy.

The couple reportedly split in 2022, and in August, Grimes lashed out at journalists for “stalking” and trying to “dox” her and her kids to “get at” Elon Musk.
She said, “To the journalists that keep stalking me and trying to dox my kids and me… contacting all my friends and anyone I interact with. It gets back to me.”
The singer threatened to reveal the names of those journalists if they continued. “Leave my kids alone,” she added.
Elon Musk and Grimes Relationship
When asked if she and Musk are romantically involved as a couple, Boucher said: “There’s no real name for it. I would still refer to him as my boyfriend, but we are very fluid.”
She continued, “We stay in separate houses. We are best friends. We see each other often…. and have different things going on, and I don’t expect anyone to understand it.”
Grimes mentioned that her relationship with E [Musk] “is the best it’s ever been.” Earlier this month, Grimes confirmed she is making new music as she wants to focus on her career.
