The mysterious buyer of Elvis Presley’s abandoned jet turned out to be a YouTuber, and he plans to turn it into an RV.

Specifically, it was James Webb, the man behind the “Jimmy’s World” channel. Webb revealed he bought the plane for $234,000 at a New Mexico auction on January 8, 2023.

He admitted that he planned to turn it into an Airbnb. Shortly after, he explained he would turn the private jet into a private RV dubbed “The King of the Road.”

How did Elvis Presley’s private jet transform into an RV?

James Webb shared two videos related to Elvis Presley’s private jet. The first came out two days ago, revealing Webb to be its anonymous buyer.

It showed the content creator mulling over the idea of converting the aircraft into a rental space for AirBnB.

“Maybe we can rent Elvis’ [private jet] for $100,000.00 a night. That’s just crazy,” he said. “It gives me an idea,” Webb added.

“What if we turned Elvis Presley’s private jet into Elvis Presley’s private RV – the ‘King of the Road?’ This could work,” said the Jimmy’s World host.

He said the winged vehicle already has several components that could power RV lights and air conditioning.

“It’s got a water system, so we can have a functional bathroom, microwave, TV, stereo system – all that fancy stuff,” he noted.

Next, Webb pointed to the front of the plane and declared that’s where he would put the steering wheel and the original captain seats.

He told Fox News, “We’re going to take an RV chassis, take the house part of the RV off, put [the plane] on that, so this can be the ‘Elvis Experience.’”

Moreover, Webb told the news outlet that it was the largest financial purchase he had ever made, costing more money than his house.

Yet, he plans to tour the United States on the Elvis RV to raise funds for charities. James Webb respected Elvis Presley and his fans, so he explained why he converted the plane into an RV.

In the second video, he told fans that there are no more replacement parts for the decades-old aircraft. Also, it would not qualify for modern aviation standards.

In other words, he “destroyed Elvis Presley’s private jet to save it.” Still, fans expressed their frustration in the comments. One person wrote:

“If you can’t make it to fly, then maybe it’s a good idea to just restore it visually for people to come and see how Elvis’s plane looked back in the day in its almost full glory.”

The King of Rock and Roll bought the plane for $840,000 on December 22, 1976. As expected, the 1962 Lockheed 1329 Jetstar had amenities fit for royalty.

It boasted a red velvet couch and passenger seats for nine passengers. Moreover, it has gold-finished window treatments and wood paneling.

The private plane stayed in the New Mexico Desert for almost 40 years. In 2017. businessman Jim Gagliardi bought it for $498,000.

He planned to send Elvis Presley’s private jet to his earth-moving equipment dealership in Madera for a promotional event.

He told the Roswell Daily Record, “I was going to have it as kind of an advertisement, have people go in it and look at it.”

However, Gagliardi’s plan never pushed through, so he had to abandon it again. On January 8, 2023, Elvis Presley’s former wife, Priscilla, auctioned it off.
