Liam Gallagher Reacts to The 1975’s Matty Healy’s Oasis Reunion Request

/ 09:19 AM February 23, 2023

Recently, Matt Healy, lead man for the famous pop band, The 1975, urged the band Oasis to “grow up” and get back together. And now Liam Gallagher of Oasis has given his response.

Oasis was an iconic rock band formed in 1991 in Manchester, England. Formerly known as the Rain, the group consisted of Liam Gallagher, Paul McGuigan and Tony McCaroll.

The group was later joined by Noel, Liam’s older brother, taking the tally to five and finalizing the group’s core lineup.

Oasis disbanded in 2009 after a final fistfight between the two famous brothers, ultimately leading to Noel’s departure.

The pop band is among the most celebrated British bands ever, selling millions of records worldwide. Little wonder fans have been clamoring for a reunion since they separated.

Earlier this month, in a backstage interview on Q with Tom Power at the Rock en Seine festival, Healy asked, “What are Oasis doing?”

On the radio show aired by the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation), Healy talked about inter-band tensions in The 1975 and how they surmounted by being silly.

He then turned his attention to bands that always “get so serious” about things that, in his view, were “not that complicated.”

Healy joked, “Can you imagine being in what is potentially – and right now, still – the coolest band ever and not doing it because you’re mad with your brother?”

He said he didn’t mind Liam and Noel, who are in their 50s, “dressing like they’re in their 20s” but not “acting like they’re in their 20s”.

The pop star urged the band to “Grow up! Headline Glastonbury! Have a laugh! Have a good time!”

He even said, “There’s not one person going to a Liam Gallagher gig or a High Flying Birds gig that wouldn’t rather be at an Oasis gig.”

“Do me a favor: Get back together, stop messing around. That’s my public service announcement for today.”

It prompted a fan to ask Liam on Twitter, saying, “About your return… Matty says you’re just wasting your time and should stop acting like children. What do you think?”

To this, Liam had a witty response: “The time is ours to waste; who made him the boss of time?”

There has been much speculation surrounding Oasis. It started last month when Liam claimed that Noel was “on the phone begging for forgiveness.”

Noel had previously stated in an interview that he’d “never say never” about the band getting back together. Even though he had said, there was “no point” to it in October last year.

Moreover, Liam had previously answered another fan’s question on Twitter. He stated that he was “Born ready” for a reunion with his old band. “We’ll have to see.”

Meanwhile, Manchester rapper Aitch has pleaded with Liam to appear on his album and even offered him £7 million.

When asked how he’d start a conversation with Gallagher, the rapper replied, “I’ll just say, ‘Why are [you] not on my album yet?’ See how it goes from there.”

However, Gallagher has responded, saying he won’t appear on Aitch’s album. Gallagher said, “Listen, I don’t do that – that’s not for me, man. He seems like a nice lad, but I don’t wanna be on anyone’s album.”
