Gwyneth Paltrow stars in Astronomer ad after Coldplay ‘kiss cam’ scandal

LOS ANGELES – After the Coldplay “kiss cam” scandal triggered the resignations of its CEO and head of HR, tech startup Astronomer brought in Chris Martin’s ex wife, Gwyneth Paltrow, as a “temporary” spokesperson.
The Oscar-winning actress is featured in a promotional video posted to the company’s LinkedIn, X and YouTube accounts on Friday.

In the video, Paltrow announces that she has been “hired on a very temporary basis to speak on behalf of the 300-plus employees at Astronomer.”
Without mentioning the viral incident at the Coldplay concert, she says Astronomer has “gotten a lot of questions over the last few days.”
She then proceeds to answer the questions.
“OMG! What the actual f—” reads one question. Paltrow responds: “Yes! Astronomer is the best place to run Apache Airflow, unifying the experience of running data, ML and AI pipelines at scale.”

In response to another question,” Paltrow invites viewers to the company’s “Beyond Analytics” conference this September.
“We will now be returning to what we do best: delivering game-changing results for our customers. Thank you for your interest in Astronomer,” Paltrow says in closing.

The ad was rolled out following Coldplay’s July 15 concert at Gillette Stadium, where former CEO Andy Byron, who is married, and Chief People Officer Kristin Cabot were spotted embracing.
Paltrow’s ex-husband and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin joked onstage, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” sending the clip viral.
Byron and Cabot resigned days later.
