LA police nab a 13-year-old in beating death of Filipino store clerk
Police arrested a 13-year-old boy in the beating death of a Filipino Los Angeles liquor store clerk and are looking for three other suspects, a male and two females.
Steven Reyes, 68, was killed on Oct. 6 outside Tony’s Market in the Highland Park neighborhood as he and a co-worker tried to stop a group of teenage alleged shoplifters.
Reyes tried to help his colleague when someone in the group hit him in the head with a scooter. He died of his injuries at a hospital.
Family members said Reyes, an immigrant who came to the US 40 years ago, worked at the store two nights a week to help his mother financially.
