The Markham Federation of Filipino Canadians (MFFC) Centre thanked Zijian (Nemo) Cui, a staff representative from MPP Logan Kanapathi’s office, last Aug. 18, for the vital impact of a $43,600 Community Building Fund grant on the center’s year-long operations. The government of Ontario and the Ontario Trillium Foundation awarded grant to the center last year.

The MFFC partially used the funds for supplies and materials to meet public health and safety requirements, technical equipment and software to deliver virtual programming, and to support general operating expenses.

Senior citizens rely on the MFFC Centre for their weekly program to promote and maintain the best quality of life, mental and physical health and link to supportive network for seniors.  Activities such as dancing, music and computer lessons, tai chi, cooking, etc., are available to them. The center also supports a youth performing arts group, which also participates in peer mentoring, leadership training and volunteer activities.
