Dog abandoned in roadside found with eyes, mouth superglued

/ 05:57 PM March 06, 2018

While many pets are loved and even seen as an extension of family, others are treated inhumanely.

This was the case of a dog found helpless in a Wichita, Kansas, roadside with her eyes and mouth shut with superglue.

Beauties and Beasts Inc., an animal rescue group, believes the dog is a Jack Russell or Parsons terrier and that she was a victim of animal cruelty at only eight months old.

On Feb. 26, she was found in the early morning, lying by the side of the road. She was brought to a veterinary hospital where a doctor estimated that her eyes and mouth were sealed for about 24 to 48 hours.

“She has ulcerations on her eyes with sight vision and a tear in her lip and large bruising to her abdomen,” the group stated on its Facebook page.

The group hopes to bring justice to the puppy and is offering a reward of over $2,000 (P104,000) “for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for this disgraceful act of cruelty.”

It has raised over $3,000 as of writing for the dog’s medical care and for the reward money.

Despite her ordeal, the puppy was “full of love and kisses” for her rescuers. The now-bright-eyed dog has since been named Glory and is currently in foster care.

A video posted on Facebook shows her full of energy as she plays with a tennis ball, her mouth open as wide as possible.

Her case is still under investigation and information on her abuser is requested to be sent to Sedgwick County Animal Control.  /ra
