Stabbings kill 2 in the lobby of Filipino restaurant in Maryland

The fatal stabbings took place in front of Lumpia, Pansit, ATBP. restaurant in Westfield Wheaton in Maryland.

WHEATON, Maryland – Police arrested a teenager in the stabbing deaths of two men in front of a Filipino restaurant in the Westfield Wheaton mall Tuesday, Jan. 10.

The suspect, Angelo Lamont Jackson, 17, of Montgomery Village, Maryland, faces two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly stabbing Angel Alfredo Gomez-Pineda, 24, of Silver Spring, and Kevin Siloe Moya Cruz, 22, of Wheaton. Jackson was charged as an adult and is being held without bond.

The victims reportedly tried to defend themselves with bamboo stalks yanked from the decorations of Lumpia, Pansit, ATBP restaurant in the mall.

It wasn’t clear if Jackson and the victims knew each other, but police said there was an altercation. Witnesses said Jackson allegedly stabbing the first victim and then pursued the second victim and stabbing him.
