NY cops nab suspect in violent attack-robbery on 53-year-old Filipino

NEW YORK – Police on Tuesday, March 29, arrested a Queens man with a criminal record who allegedly beat and robbed a 53-year-old Filipino immigrant at a McDonald’s in midtown Manhattan the day before.
Security video shows a man, later identified Rasheed Osundairo, 30, of Rosedale, Queens, punching his victim, Melvin Dizon, in the face while the latter was placing an order at a McDonald’s on Seventh Avenue on Monday morning, March 28.
Osundairo was arrested and charged with robbery. He has a criminal record had served prison time before for attempted robbery. He was paroled in December 2016. The incident was not considered a hate crime.

The suspect demanded Dizon’s wallet before punching him, knocking himto the ground, kicking him him in the head, then grabbed Dizon’s cell phone and wallet.
Dizon, who resides in New Jersey suffered a severe head injury and was admitted in critical but stable condition at a hospital He said that none of the customers in the fast food joint tried to help him.
“I said, ‘Help, help, please call the cops,’” Dizon, a resident of New Jersey told the Daily News from his hospital bed. “I was hoping people were going to help me, but they didn’t … they were just watching and they didn’t get involved. I guess they’re scared.”
