Artist Lenore Lim’s works showcased in Vancouver exhibit
VANCOUVER, B.C.— An art exhibit that opened March 8 at the Philippine Consulate in Vancouver showcases the works of Filipina artist and accomplished printmaker Lenore Lim, who has held solo exhibitions in the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Italy, Austria, Jordan Berlin, and the UAE.
The exhibit entitled “Calado” celebrates National Women’s Month and International Women’s Day.
Inspired by the style of embroidery from Lim’s native province of Batangas that was introduced during the Spanish colonial period, “Calado” shows the breadth of Lim’s thematic creativity, from abstract compositions that experiment purely with formal elements, to nostalgic and nature-derived compositions.
Lim’s printmaking methods include lithography, serigraphy and etching and are intended to produce representative and abstract works with references to nature and traditional Philippine decorative arts.
The Exhibit at the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver will run until April 29, 2022.
