Dinner to mark Yakima Valley Fil-Am community hall’s 66th year

WAPATO, Washington — Yakima Valley’s Filipino American residents will celebrate the 66th Anniversary of their Community Hall’s construction with a dinner on March 24.

It will take place from noon to 4 p.m. at the Filipino Community Hall, 211 W. Second St. Traditional Filipino foods and desserts will be featured, along with a 2 p.m. performance by the Batang Wapato Youth Folk Dancers.

Established in 1938, the Filipino community of Yakima Valley’s rich history includes building the first-ever Filipino Community Hall from the ground up in the United States.

Today the hall is the hub of the Filipino American community in Central Washington State, one of the major communities in the State of Washington.  Its programs provide leisure and cultural activities, youth programs, educational,  historical preservation, networking, and outreach opportunities.

Tickets for the dinner are $15 for adults 13 to 59 years old; $12 for seniors 60 years old and older and $10 for children ages 7 to 12 years old.

Tickets can be purchased at the Filipino Community Hall or by calling 509-952-3846, 509-837-2771 or 509-877-3087.

The Filipino American Community of Yakima Valley is social club recognized as a 501(c)4 organization by the U.S. Internal Revenue Services. Its properties are located at 211 and 213 West 2nd streets in the City of Wapato.
