Biden names Fil-Am to top Small Business Admin regional post
President Joe Biden has appointed Filipina American Geri Sanchez Aglipay as Small Business Administration regional administrator for the Great Lakes region.
Aglipay, a second-generation American, will oversee SBA programs, offices and operations in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin.
A graduate of Bradley University, Aglipay has more than 20 years of experience in workforce, entrepreneurship and economic development work. Aglipay was Midwest Region Chair of Fil-Ams for Biden.
She was director of the Midwest Region and was national manager of the Women’s Entrepreneurship for Small Business Majority before joining the SBA. She led and expanded the organization’s strategic education initiatives, policy, research and financial development work in the Midwest, and oversaw women’s entrepreneurship nationwide to address disparities.
SBA Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman called Aglipay a “champion who will work hard to help the SBA meet our small businesses where they are.”
