Comedian Christian Cabrera, the Filipino Chinese American comedian known as “Chinese Best Friend,” has died from Covid-19 on Jan. 22.

Cabrera is known to regularly create viral videos alongside American Ghanaian actor and comedian Michael Blackson.

The unvaccinated Cabrera, 40, tested positive for the coronavirus around Christmas. Not long afterwards, he was in an emergency room with pneumonia in both lungs. Unable to breathe on his own, he was put on a ventilator and spent more than a week in the ICU.

Cabrera’s brother, Jino, told KTLA that the comedian texted him just two days before his death, saying: “I really regret not getting my vaccine, if I can do it all over again I would do it in a heartbeat to save my life. I’m fighting for my life here and I wish I have gotten vaccinated.”

Jino said that the comic was skeptical of getting the vaccine as he claimed he never got sick.
