An elderly couple in Nebraska got arrested for possession of over 60 pounds of marijuana, which they claimed was supposed to be given away by them as Christmas gifts.

Patrick Jiron, 80, and his wife Barbara, 70, were caught on Dec. 19, when they were first made to pull over by police after violating traffic rules, according to a report by The York News Times.

Upon stopping the couple’s Toyota Tacoma, deputies and the police dog quickly caught the smell of the substance from the back of the vehicle, prompting an inspection.

They found boxes which contained the marijuana. The substance was valued at $336,000 (around P16.8 million), according to York County sheriff’s department Lt. Paul Vrbka.

“They didn’t know it was illegal to transport marijuana in Nebraska,” Vrbka said in the report.

On a follow-up report released Friday, the sheriff’s department said that the two have not faced jail time as Barbara has health problems.
