Filipino food truck feeds the homeless in Colorado Springs
Owners of the Filipino Food Truck founded in 2017 have not stopped operating despite the pandemic, but they include a special weekend activity.
Every other Saturday, the truck serves free food to the homeless outside the Springs Rescue Mission in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Owners Lorry Vic Martinez and Adan Garcia feed the homeless every other Saturday. They feed some 200 homeless people a week.
“We can go to the kitchen and have a hot meal, they can’t,” said owner Adan Garcia.
The couple and their truck were featured on Fox21 News.
“We try to our best to be out there to feed homeless because they need us too,” said Lorry Martinez.
Garcia said he once had to rely on the generosity of others for food in the past. “I’m hungry and I know how I feel.”
Every week, the couple serves about 200 people living on the street.
“Everyone is waiting. They line up. They tell us how blessed they are to get food and fresh food,” said Martinez.
They are asking the community help them give back and contact them for food donations including eggs, bread, and fruits.
