Fil-Am is first transgender to be crowned Miss Nevada

LAS VEGAS – Kataluna Enriquez has become the first transgender woman to be crowned Miss Nevada USA, beating 21 other contestants. She will represent Nevada in the upcoming Miss USA pageant on Nov. 29.

The Filipino American Enriquez, 27, won the Miss Nevada title on Sunday in the pageant at the South Point hotel-casino in Las Vegas.

She also was the winner of the Miss Silver State USA pageant in March, the largest  preliminary competition for the Miss Nevada USA pageant.

If Enriquez wins the Miss USA crown she will be the second trans woman to join the Miss Universe pageant after Spain’s Angela Ponce in 2018.

Enriquez is a model and social media influencer who was born a biological male. She was born in Las Vegas and went to San Leandro High School. She guards her private life and is a Christian.
