Airfare wars for the shoulder winter season are heating up, with ultra-low cost transatlantic carriers like WOW air and Norwegian Air Shuttle launching bargain basement prices for travel between the United States and Europe.
Icelandic airline WOW air has launched a $99 one-way seat sale between seven European cities (Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Dublin, Edinburgh, Stockholm and Copenhagen) and Boston, Washington DC, New York, Pittsburgh and Chicago.
For travelers in San Francisco and Los Angeles, the airfares rise modestly to $119.
Fares are good for flights departing November through Dec. 13.
Norwegian Air Shuttle also offers matching $99 one-way fares for routes like Boston to Dublin and London.
Those who may have reason to travel to Guadeloupe and Martinique, which suffered major destruction following the recent string of hurricanes, can also travel from New York for as low as $59 one-way. JB
