San Mateo police arrested two teenage homicide suspects on Saturday and Monday after a shooting that killed a Filipino American teenager at the San Mateo Adult School on Friday, May 14.

After reports of gunshots, San Mateo police officers went to the San Mateo Adult School located at E. Poplar Avenue and found the victim, Ashly Tianson, 19, in the driver’s seat of  hisparked vehicle. He had been shot in the torso. The homicide was apparently not connected to any activity in the adult school.

According to a GoFundMe appeal started by Tianson’s family in Daly City, Tianson was a security guard at the V.A. Hospital. He picked up his girlfriend after work and as they  were sitting in his car three people came and tried to steal it. When one of the suspects brandished a gun, Tianson used his body to protect his girlfriend, who was unharmed.

One suspect, age 16, was arrested near San Jose. A second suspect, also 16, was nabbed in San Mateo last Monday, according to police. Detectives served search warrants at residences in both Menlo Park and San Mateo.
