Kaua’i Filipino Chamber gives 11 students scholarships
KAUA’I, Hawaii —Kaua‘i Filipino Chamber of Commerce Foundation sent scholarship awards to 11 recipients by mail in lieu of a public celebration, due to the rise in COVID-19 cases on Kaua‘i.
“Our organization has invested nearly $135,000 for college scholarships over the past 17 years from proceeds that are raised at our annual Labor Day golf tournament and other fundraisers,” President Laurie Yoshida and Cyndi Ayonon, chair of the Scholarship Committee, said in a press statement. The traditional golf tournament was replaced by a dinner fundraiser last year.
Of the recipients, seven are heading to four-year colleges or universities, and four will be attending a community college or vocational school.
They are the following: Marvin Jake DePeralta; Julianne Castro; Christian Lardizabal; Pauline Ragus; Amber Asuncion; Sydney Jona; Kainoa Merano; Braelyn Cayaban; Leonila Fulgencio; Jhanalei Sales; Amalya Sales.
