Filipinx folk dance and music takes center stage at OACC

/ 10:02 PM March 04, 2021

Oakland, CA – Oakland Asian Cultural Center (OACC) will present its second virtual concert in the “Celebrating Our HeART-filled Heritage” performing arts series, featuring members of Parangal Dance Company, a Bay Area Filipino folk dance ensemble that aims to preserve the Philippine Indigenous People’s culture through captivating performances and engaging workshops.

OACC is proud to host Parangal Dance Company in a virtual event consisting of an educational showcase of three cultural dances from various regions of the Philippines, followed by a live dance workshop broadcast directly from OACC’s auditorium. Parangal Dance Company’s mission is to give tribute to Philippine heritage by preserving and promoting ethnic attire, music, and dance through research, workshops, and performances. They aim to serve as a bridge, inspiring and connecting Filipino Americans to their roots to give them a sense of pride and identity, while educating diverse communities to foster awareness and appreciation of Philippine culture.
