Diplomatic community holds virtual ‘Paskong Pinoy’ in DC
WASHINGTON – A virtual “Paskong Pinoy” (Filipino Christmas) celebration on Dec. 1 was hosted by the Associates of the American Foreign Service Worldwide (AAFSW), according to the Philippine Embassy’s Sentro Rizal.
Entitled “Christmas Celebrations Around the World,” the virtual program featured the Christmas traditions of the Philippines, Czech Republic, Mexico, Slovak Republic, and the Holy Land.
“This is one of the most beautiful seasons of the year. No matter which part of the world you are, this is a season full of joy, happiness and festivities. Families get together building memories that will last forever”, said AAFSW Program Chair Sheila Switzer as she opened the event.
In a video recorded message, Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez, highlighted the importance of this year’s celebration, focusing on “the Filipino spirit that represents hope, goodwill, and resilience as we come together as a nation to celebrate the Yuletide season in the new normal.”
Participants also engaged presenters in a Q&A after the event.
