More Filipinos head home from Royal Caribbean cruise ship
BARBADOS – More than 300 Filipino crew members of Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Seas who were stranded the coronavirus pandemic have been sent home to Manila.
About 348 Filipino crew members left June 21 via Philippine Airlines from the Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados, where the Harmony of the Seas is docked.
The second-largest boat in the world and part of the Royal Caribbean-Oasis class, Harmony of the Seas arrived in Barbados on May 27 as a result of no-sail orders due to Covid-19. Only crew is onboard the vessel.
Barbados’ Minister of Maritime Affairs Kirk Humphrey had strongly appealed for more repatriation flights after a Filipina wait staffer on the ship was found dead, an apparent suicide.
