This scholarship is made possible by the generous contribution of Mr. Raymond L. Ocampo Jr., Esq., who has been a trailblazer in the Filipino American legal community. Ocampo is the principal founder of the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (FBANC), one of the largest NFALA regional affiliates. He is President and CEO of Samurai Surfer LLC, a private investment company.

He retired in 1996 as Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary of Oracle Corporation, where he served as its chief counsel for more than a decade after the company’s initial public offering. In 1997 he co-founded and served for two years as Executive Director of the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology, which led to the school’s ranking by U.S. News & World Report as the country’s top intellectual property law program for 20 of the past 22 years. Ocampo received his undergraduate degree from UCLA in 1973 and his law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law at UC Berkeley in 1976.
