19 Filipino crew members of ship in Brazil test positive
Brazil’s National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) on Saturday, April 11, proceeded with the disembarkation of all but 19 of 246 Filipino crew members of the Costa Fascinosa cruise ship in the port of Santos.
The 19 crew members left on board tested positive for COVID-19. Only crew members without symptoms and with negative test results for COVID-19 were allowed to disembark the vessel, according to a Crew-Center.com report.
Costa Cruises organized transportation to the Guarulhos international airport and a charter flight for the crew’s safe return to the Philippines on Saturday.
Costa Fascinosa arrived in Santos, Brazil on March 17, with 764 crew on board. The ship was in quarantine since March 19, and all the crew have been in isolation throughout this period. There are still 452 crew members on board waiting to be repatriated to their home countries.
