Census Outreach: ‘Ang Drama Mo,’ Episode 2

/ 09:00 AM March 26, 2020

Here is a look at Episode 2 of Ang Drama Mo — “Counting Mama.” Mama (Lily De Ocampo) thinks her son (Carlin James) is lying to her about who is at the door. She also hasn’t filled out her #2020Census form yet because she is scared. Is her son lying? Who is the mysterious “Man Who Knows Stuff”? Can she still fill out her Census form?! Find out by watching the video above!

This episode is special because the night before production, a few actors canceled. Desperate to fill last minute roles, I enlisted my sister (Lily De Ocampo), niece (Jurshia Felipe), and friend Jami Sophia Tubal (you can follow them on IG at: Lily De Ocampo: @lilymooredeocampo, Jurshia Felipe: @Jokai.thinks, Jami Sophia Tubal: @_jamisophia). All three also happen to be nurses, and my sister even founded a nurse staffing agency. They believed in the cause and took the day off from work to volunteer their time (this was before the crisis broke out).

Currently they are all on the front lines at war with COVID-19. These three incredible women stepped up when I was scrambling for actresses to create a series of U.S. Census edutainment PSAs that would empower Filipino-Americans to fill out their census forms, and months later they are selflessly stepping up for our community yet again to fight an invisible enemy. Think of that when you watch Episode 2.
