Filipino biotech worker shoots fellow Filipino in San Diego workplace

SAN DIEGO, California — A 54-year-old Filipino biotech worker was nabbed for allegedly shooting and severely wounding a co-worker, also a Filipino, at their Carmel Mountain Ranch workplace.

Julio Riel Narvaez III allegedly shot co-worker, reportedly named Mike Limbag, 37, in a warehouse at the offices of Phamatech Inc., a drug-testing and laboratory-services firm, about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, according to San Diego police.

The victim suffered from a bullet wound to the head. He was conscious and able to speak. Narvaez, meanwhile, was held down on the floor by other workers.

Medics took the victimto Palomar Medical Center in Escondido, where he was admitted in critical condition.

It was unclear exactly what prompted the violence between the two co- workers.

Following the shooting, Narvaez went to a different area of the building where co-workers held him down. Narvaez was booked into San Diego Central Jail on suspicion of attempted murder. He was being held without bail pending arraignment.
