PH native textiles exhibit to open in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO—An exhibit of Philippine indigenous textiles entitled “Hibla ng Lahing Filipino” (The Artistry of Philippine textiles) Traveling Exhibition will open at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Center on August 5 at 6 p.m.

The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, in cooperation with the National Museum of the Philippines, the Office of Congresswoman Loren Legarda and the Philippine Center Management Board, is hosting an opening reception.

The exhibition, which highlights the piña-seda (pineapple and silk cloths) as a traditional and unique source of Philippine fiber cloth, will run from August 5 to 30, 2019, and will include lecture series, weaving demonstrations and embroidery workshops on August 6, 8-9 at the Consulate.
