Gala, concert to mark San Francisco PH Independence Day celebration
SAN FRANCISCO – A gala dinner and concert on June 14 at 6 p.m. at the historic Intercontinental Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco will celebrate the 121st Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.
The formal program will feature the best of Filipino talent through a concert by Philippine soprano duo The Nightingales, with an opening act by the Sincerity Girls Ensemble. Also featured will be the 2019 Kalayaan Spark*Connect*Empower* Heroes awards, the traditional Rigodon de Honor, and keynote remarks of eminent Filipino and American government leaders, including U.S. Rep. Terence John “TJ” Cox from California’s 21st congressional district who is of Filipino descent.
The concert will feature performances by the Nightingales, who perform a repertoire of Philippine folk songs, opera arias and Broadway show turnes, and the Sincerity Girls Ensemble, a group of vibrant Filipino American girls from Bay Area middle and high schools.
The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco, in cooperation with the Philippine Center Management Board (The PCMB) and the KalayaanSF Committee, as well as the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and the Sentro Rizal in San Francisco are hosting he event.
