New Jersey man arrested for soliciting teenage girl in PH

VOORHEES, New Jersey — Authorities say a New Jersey man solicited explicit photographs from a 13-year-old girl in the Philippines.

Amitav Das is suspected of soliciting explicit photos from a 13-year-old girl in the Philippines.

Camden County prosecutors say Amitava Das used a social media messenger application to get the girl to send the photos, but didn’t provide further details. The 45-year-old Voorhees man is charged with manufacturing and possessing child porn.

Authorities say they began investigating Das after getting a tip about his social media activity. He was arrested Friday after local and federal law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at his home and seized numerous digital devices.

Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.

It wasn’t known Monday if Das has retained an attorney. He works as a computer auditor at an accounting firm with offices in Voorhees and Philadelphia.
