Today is the day! You’re pregnant and need to figure out when the best time to announce pregnancy will be. Announcing your pregnancy is a big deal! When to announce your pregnancy depends on several factors. First of all, someone may have told you when to announce your pregnancy, however, it’s all up to you and when you’re comfortable. Your baby will be going through changes the first couple weeks and it may be hard on everyone. The more relaxed you are, your baby will be too. It’s all about how you react to anything. The first few weeks, the word schedule is nonexistent. Don’t stress yourself out trying to get a routine going for two weeks or so. Another huge tip, when your baby wakes up, mom and dad both do not have to get up every time with him/her. Take turns at night. You have to sleep at some point and sleep deprivation is going to happen, but just one at a time. You’ll enjoy your newborn much better in a few hours of sleep. When you’re pregnant, you cannot wait to tell the world. However, you should not just announce the pregnancy until you and your partner feel it’s the right time. This is a better time than announcing it the day you find out. When it comes to your family, that’s a little different to most people. When to announce pregnancy to your family can be right away, especially if you need their support or want them to be with you every step. When to announce pregnancy to your close friends may be sooner as well.  People will get excited about your pregnancy, trying to get all of your close friends together for a party might be the right time.

Announcing to your employer that you are pregnant may come before your close friends. There are several determining factors in this decision. One factor is the kind of work you do. If you are in an environment that you are doing physical labor daily, you may want to tell your employer that you are pregnant as soon as you find out. You don’t want any stress on the baby, and you can’t keep doing the same work everyday without hurting the baby. You may have your boss lighten your duties just until you go on maternity leave. Give your boss sometime to get the schedule worked out and let them know you are willing to do whatever they need you to do as long as you’re staying healthy and not putting strain on the baby. They will understand and you’ll have a piece of mind that you’re doing the right thing.

You’ve had your doctor appointment, they have given you the okay and clean bill of health. So far, all is well with your baby, so what’s next. Do you announce the pregnancy now or wait a little  longer? After your doctor confirms the baby, and before the end of your first trimester, you can keep your pregnancy quiet still. When to announce pregnancy is up to you and your partner. Take warning though, do not keep it a secret for much longer.  Once you have gotten confirmation of a healthy baby, go ahead and announce it. You will get support and help if anything were to go wrong. It’s also great to be taken care of sometimes too. Enjoy it while you can, before too long you’ll be missing the attention.

When you decide to announce your pregnancy, there are some pros and cons involved. Before 12 weeks, when announcing pregnancy, the pros are: support, excitement, and advice. Yet, when announcing pregnancy the cons are: being overwhelmed from all the advice, and if there is a miscarriage, everyone is expecting a baby. After 12 weeks of pregnancy, announcing your pregnancy pros are: having time to take in the news and making decision without other people’s advice involved. The cons are: not having the support and help prior to this, and if there is a miscarriage, people will not understand why you are grieving.

When to announce pregnancy is very vital in our lives. Just remember that it is your child and the only people that really need to make this final decision are you and your partner. It is nice to have help and support, yes, but also it all depends on the individual and how they are with advice, support, and help.
