Juice WRLD – Lucid Dreams

Juice WRLD Lucid Dreams

Juice World takes us back all the way to 1993 on this Sting inspired rap, rock fusion mashup. This song is the quintessential show pony of what music has transformed into, as the beauty of music is that it is always transforming and transcending into different versions. Juice WRLD samples Sting’s shape of my heart hit from 1993, and while the central message Is very similar to the original it is performed much differently, and with an entirely different diction. Juice WRLD really connects with his listeners on this track, he speaks about heartbreak. Anyone who has ever been in love unless they are the luckiest person on the planet, they have in some form or another experienced heartbreak, where all you can think about is the person you are with, ignoring all signs of an unhealthy relationship and everything just to be with that person. As Juice says, Listening to my heart instead of my head, and it has gotten him into this situation that he is now in, Heartbroken. Been there, done that, got the Tee shirt. An absolute classic from 2018 and an absolute must listen.

Drake – God’s Plan

Drake God’s Plan

The man on top of the world at the moment, the man who seems to walk on water, the one, the only, Drake. Many times removed from his Degrassi days, in this trap hit Drake does it once more. From his hit album Scorpion, this track has everything you want, a stunner of a back tack, a drum break with a line that was sung at clubs all over the US “She said do you love me, I tell her only partly, I only love my mama & my bed, I’m sorry” This resonated with many people all over the US and was one of the most widely played tracks all over the US. It was such a big track that Drake’s production company allotted 1 million dollars for the music video, however in good taste drake decided that he would take that 1 million dollars and give it away to individuals and film their reactions around Christmas times. This really set a positive image for the rap industry and hopefully inspired others to do the same as drake has done. One of the Best songs 2018.

Drake – In My Feelings

Drake In My Feelings

Kiki definitely does love Drake now as the hottest dance craze of the Summer was inspired by this song right here, the “In my feelings Challenge” was born from this trap hit. This song features Drake speaking about many of his prior ex’s makes him vulnerable and definitely relatable. The main chorus that starts “Kiki do you love me” led to a dance craze where people took to Instagram outside of their cars, singing along and moving with the car it became the in my feelings challenge. This song really features many layers, of course the backing track is the most noticeable, however layered in is Drake’s producer since Day 1, the infamous Weezy, otherwise known as Lil Wayne. Another surprising appearance is made by sampling a Miami native female rap group. This song sparked a lot of social controversy due to Drakes many hidden references within this song, including Jenny From the Block, a reference to Jennifer Lopez who drake Reportedly dated back in 2017. This song will definitely have you in your feelings as it was one of the Best Songs of 2018.
